India has unveiled a $35 computer as part of its program to provide connectivity to its students and teachers at affordable prices.

India’s Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal displayed what he called a low-cost computing and access device in New Delhi on Thursday.

He told a news conference: “We have reached a (developmental) stage that today; the motherboard, its chip, the processing, connectivity, all of them cumulatively cost around $35, including memory, display, everything.”

The ministry said the unit price would eventually fall to $10.
